Windermere Family Paddle 14 March 2015
There was a good turn out of 14 paddlers for the trip. The weather at the start was calm and the sun appeared to be trying to come out, but as the day wore on, the easterly wind picked up and there was a cold chill in the air.
We headed south from Ferry nab, past Ramp Holme and Storrs Temple to Rawlinson Nab which is a lovely bay facing south on the west side of the lake. We stopped for a brew and a bite and a rest before heading north for lunch on Thompson’s Holme. By now everyone was feeling the cold and after lunch it was decided to paddle back to Ferry Nab for an early finish. We travelled south in the lea of Belle Isle to keep out of the wind as much as possible followed by a quick sprint across the lake back to the starting point.
After packing up, we enjoyed a hot drink and a few minutes chat before heading home.
